Streetsweeper graduates college at 55-year-old in Batangas - Teacher ng Pinas

Ofelia Mondaya - inspired the netizens after she successfully finished college at the age of 55. 

The family of Mondaya couldn't help but to share how happy they are seeing their family member becoming to be a successful as Ofelia completed her college degree in Batangas. She finished her course Business Administration at the Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas. At her old age, she still succeed on pursuing and reaching her dreams while she's working as a streetsweeper. 

The daughter of Ofelia shared to the public how her mother work hard on her dreams. 

"Sobrang pinagtiyagaan niya talaga. Halos sa madaling araw umaalis siya, magtatrabaho, magwawalis tapos uuwi siya ng umaga na, maliwanag na. Tapos mag-aaral siya kasi marami siyang assignment." she said. 

It took her 4 years of patience working on her academics and at the same time working as a streetsweeper. Ofelia was also asked by some people on how she managed to do it and she responded, "I talk to my supervisor and ask some favor to arrange my working schedule so that it won't interfere on my class schedule." 

Before she pursued college, way back before, she studied and undergo the program of Alternative Learning System (ALS) which is under the Department of Education in 2014. She passed the program and granted a scholarship and was accepted in Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas. 

Crizel also cited that her other 6 siblings were very proud of their mom's achievement. "Proud na proud kami sa kaniya. Hindi man kami nakapagtapos, katulad ng kanyang pinapangarap sa amin, masaya kami kasi siya 'yung halos tumupad na rin ng pangarap namin."

However, due to the pandemic that the world is currently facing and fighting right now, she won't be able to march but the happiness that Ofelia feeling right now wasn't affected by that. She also urged everyone to keep working hard on your goals right now. 

She said, "Huwag na po nating hintayin na tayo ay magkaedad pa o maging matanda bago mag-aral… Kailangan po talaga maging positibo tayo sa buhay at gawin po natin 'yung tama at alam natin na makakatulong sa atin. Ganoon din po sa ating kapwa."

For now she's currently finishing her contract, Ofelia is now planning to apply as a regular employee in the City Hall.
